Behind The Scenes
Florence is fascinated with all wildlife and the ocean and is equally as excited to document her passion through creating radiant artwork. From a young age, growing up these loves were clearly evident with her first mackerel painting at age 3. Florence studied art at school where she first painted marine life onto recycled floorboards- little did she know that this would be such an influential landmark for her career as an Artist.
Despite Florence’s desire to be creating, and due to her passion for sport, in particular swimming, Florence decided to study Sports Science at Exeter university. Throughout her degree Florence painted small commissions for local restaurants to fuel her creative roots. Within her final year Florence wrote a handful of letters with examples of artwork to coastal hotels and seafood restaurants.
To her delight, a response arrived from the Stein Group with a request for a 5m x 3m mural for their Stein Fisheries and Seafood Bar in Padstow. This mural was painted on 23 individual, beautifully aged, scaffolding planks which was only seen all together for the first time on delivery, with installation in situ.
This early challenge of a commission has lead to more brilliant bespoke artworks and murals for prestigious and high end restaurants around the country and most recently a mural for The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery.
Florence’s work has been exhibited within private exhibitions, art fairs and is now decorating homes and restaurants all over the world. Please contact Florence if you have any ideas you’d like to bring to life.
